BICONE fiber optics primarily are used for distance measurements. The small dimensions of the respective fiber optics heads allow distance measurements at places where space is limited. Furthermore, the absence of electronics at the place of use also allows applications in Ex areas or for example at ambient temperatures of up to 400°C.
 
In combination with SPECTRO-1-FIO and SPECTRO-2-FIO sensors scan frequencies of up to 200kHz can be reached.

Flexible brass spiral tube, chromium-plated.

Highly flexible plastic tube.

Bending radius
Sheath type "S":
The bending radius is equal to four times the outside diameter of the sheath.
Sheath type "E" and "M":
The bending radius is equal to three times the outside diameter of the sheath.
Sheath type "P":
The bending radius is equal to twice the outside diameter of the sheath.
Angled sensor head versions
Angled sensor head versions must be expected to show a reduced range compared to axially emitting versions.
Special versions
Fiber optics with increased vibration protection (type "-VS")
For applications involving higher mechanical stress such as impacts, acceleration, and movement, fiber optics can be produced with increased vibration protection. A special treatment in these fiber optics reduces friction between the fibers and compensates impacts.
Fiber optics with special bonding for high temperatures (type "-T400")
Standard bonding is suitable for temperatures of up to 80°C. With special bonding materials temperatures of up to 400°C can be reached. For these higher temperature ranges stainless steel sheathing of type E must be used.
Customer-specific versions:
Special versions with different complex sensor heads can be produced according to customer requests.
