The new age of sustainability requires the manufacture of products from recyclable and therefore resource-conserving primary products. It is imperative however, that the use of recycled materials does not jeopardize product quality. For example, the plastics industry requires that recyclates comply with the same criteria as virgin granulates. The use of recyclates may not be permitted to exercise a detrimental effect on either the production plant or the product to be manufactured.

The decisive factor for a high-quality recyclate is certainly the color tone, but above all the purity of the material. Sensors and sensor systems designed especially for the recycling sector enable both the plastic type and color to be subject to precise monitoring under both laboratory and inline conditions.
